Plant Description

Erebus Longwood Canna have graceful, shell-pink flowers amid lush, blue-green foliage. This lovely pond plant grows well in terrestrial gardens, in bog areas around your pond or with up to 3 inches of water over the roots in your pond.  Grows 3 - 4 feet tall. Plant this customer favorite in full direct sun. In northern climates, lift after first frost and overwinter indoor in a cool, dry place. Replant in the spring, after all danger of frost has passed. Blooms mid-summer until frost.

Planting Instructions

When planting canna in the pond as a pond plant, always use baskets or containers with holes in them. Use large containers, at least 12 inches wide by 12 inches deep, or larger. You may want to put a few large rocks in the container before adding soil. The rocks will keep your container from tipping over in heavy wind. The holes in the containers will enable your plant's roots access to oxygen in the water.  When planting canna in your yard, choose moist, rich, loamy soil and plant in full sun. Keep plants watered and fertilized throughout the growing/blooming season, May through September. Bulbs are tender and must be lifted after the first frost and stored and overwintered indoors. Trim off leaves and dry the bulbs in a well-ventilated area outdoors for seven to ten days. Keep them in a cool, dark, dry, well ventilated area indoors until Spring. Plant in the Spring after all danger of frost has passed.
