Yerba Mansa is hardy pond plant with unusual flowers on this lovely specimen. White petals surround a tall cone in the center of the bloom and has a sweet fragrance. Foliage is waxy green. Yerba Mansa is native to SW USA as well as northern parts of Mexico and can be found on riverbanks and wetlands. This perennial, aromatic herb has been found to have antifungal properties and has been used in herbal preparations as a calming agent, for sinus infections and wound care, among other ailments, by Native Americans and Hispanics. Yerba Mansa grows to 12 inches tall in part sun to part shade and has a running spread. Flowers and foliage may be tipped in red-- if hit with a cold snap.

Plant this lovely specimen with its roots in moist soil on a streambed or in containers and place in your pond with an inch of water over the pots. Plant Yerba Mansa in full sun to part shade, it prefers wet soil or shallow water, has a running spread and sends out rootstock. When plant sends out rootstock, you can trim off the additional rootstock and discard or pot up additional plants and place in your pond or in containers with moist soil.
