Plant Description
Red Velvet Elvis Louisiana Bog Iris is a stunning plant with spectacular, bright, crimson flowers (with a slight hint of violet in the petals) that are held above the handsome green, sword-like foliage. Red Velvet Elvis Louisiana Bog Iris grows to 3 feet tall, and blooms in late spring to early summer, depending on zone. Red Velvet Elvis is a splendid addition to your water garden or bog area of your pond or containers in your pond! Red Velvet Elvis works well in a bog filter, where Louisiana Iris can help to remove nutrients from the water--helping to avoid algae issues.

Moisture Requirements Prefers moist/wet soil with up to 2 inches of water above rhizomes

Planting Instructions
Plant in moist soil, adding composted organic material to the soil, dig the holes a little larger than the rhizomes and cover them with an inch of soil. Plant in full to part sun and make sure soil is kept moist during dry spells. (In exceptionally harsh, sunny locations, partial shade is preferred.) Louisiana iris may also be planted in bog areas or in containers in the pond, with up to 2 inches of water over the rhizomes. Iris need to be divided every 2 - 3 years. Divide your iris in late summer or early fall.
Fertilizing Instructions
Fertilize the Louisiana iris in containers in your pond with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for robust growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press the pond tabs into the soil around the rhizomes, do this once a month throughout the growing/blooming season, June through September.
